Let’s be honest, one of the best parts of visiting new places around the world is to experience the local culture. In particular, what the locals drink! Jeanette asked if there were any special drinks associated with the US Virgin Islands.
Oh yes, my friends, there are a couple I’d like to share with you. Being a Caribbean country, rum is locally produced, readily available and… cheap. You’ll find most brands of rum available in nearly every bar but the “house” pour in the USVI is nearly almost always Cruzan, produced in St. Croix (also in the USVI).
Our first drink in the USVI was at the Red Hook ferry terminal in St. Thomas. Little did we know the ferry was about to leave and we couldn’t bring our drinks aboard. Tom and I don’t abuse alcohol so down the hatch they went! You’ll be feeling much nicer with a Painkiller, the national drink.
